Day 13: Flagstaff, AZ to Kingman, AZ
The Crown Railroad Cafe
This is where the seed for this vacation was planted over 9 years ago. Susan and I stopped here
while driving from San Diego, CA to Taos, NM. I realized we were on Route 66, and started hatching
a plan to drive it. Little by little, I discovered that Route 66 was mostly still
drivable.
Another Overgrown Spur of Route 66
Abandoned stretches of Route 66 are strangely appealing. This one was outside Flagstaff.
Kid's Meal at Rod's Steak House
We got an awful lot of mileage (literally) out of "Mimi was so hungry, she could eat a whole cow! And she did!"
Mimi Trying to Feed the Cows
This was near the Grand Canyon Caverns (which we had to skip). The cows did talk to us, and
there were some babies, but they would come over for the juicy grass.
Cowgill's Route 66
I thought this display was pretty neat.
Hackberry General Store
The Hackberry General Store was closed, but there was so much to see outside that
I could have stayed for an hour just poking around there.
