Day 5: Springfield, IL to St. Louis, MO
Cozy Drive In
As I mentioned before, this is the birthplace of the corn dog. The food is good, but the decor is great. They even had a couple rattlesnakes that responded to all movement by rattling menacingly. The kids loved it.
Meramec Caverns Barn
The other of two original remaining Meramec Caverns ads painted on barns. This one is not restored, and is perhaps a little more charming.
Chain of Rocks Bridge
Known to some as the "bent" bridge, this awesome bridge spans the Mississippi river in a beautiful location. It is now open to foot traffic only, which allows you to see all the cool stuff in the river, including some neat old lighthouses.
